Hanging in the closet w. the DIY fashionista!

I just love a fashionista that makes her own ish! Hi Estelle :) Keep reading about her dope style...

 Tell us about yourself.
I'm Estelle. Currently a sophomore at CSU Northridge. Originally from the Bay Area, but enjoying life in SoCal. I'm probably one of the nicest people you'll ever meet. Fashion is everything to me, but I'm pursuing a career in nursing.

Describe your style.
My style is me, basically. I wouldn't call myself a tomboy, but I'd much rather wear tennis shoes & a t shirt than a skirt or dress, but lately I've been trying to transition into becoming more feminine, so I'll do a loose dress w/ tennis shoes or something like that. It's urban, sort of hipster like, a bit androgynous I guess you could say.

How old were you when you started to find your fashion sense?
I've always been into fashion, but in high school there were strict codes on what we could & couldn't wear, so I guess it was around junior or senior year when I started to break out in terms of wearing what I wanted. But all hell broke loose freshman year of college because couldn't no body tell me nothinnn about too short shorts or wearing tank tops or whatever, lol.

What are some of your fav items in your closet now?
This DIY spiked shoulder jean jacket I did, my Camo jacket, black & gold 1s (Jordans), my timbs, my creepers (platform shoes), oversized denim shirt, & this flannel I thrifted. Oh, & my Alexander Wang inspired Rocco bag.

What fall 2012 trends do you love most?
I already know I'll be wearing all black a lot. I'm feelin' the Givenchy inspired tees that've been coming out, too. I'll probably wear my timbs everyday (don't judge me), but pretty much blacks & neutral colors.

What/who inspires your fashion sense?
Definitely Teyana Taylor. I love how she switches it up from feminine to tomboy. Miley Cyrus's style has been catching my eye lately too.

What advice would you give someone struggling to find their own personal style?
Do you. I've gotten some weird looks for some stuff I've worn, but I just keep my head high & rock that ish with confidence. People will stare at you, but will come with something similar you had on a week later. Fashion isn't about pleasing other people, it's about expressing yourself. Once you start wearing what makes you comfortable, you'll feel 100x better, trust.

Heels or flats?
Heels over flats, but tennis shoes over heels, lol. If I had to choose a go to pair, it'd be my Jeffrey Campbell litas though, cause they're so easy to walk in. Or any other pair of platform based shoes.
